Receding Hair Line Alert – A Cause Of Female Pattern Baldness

Female pattern baldness is one of the most common types of hair loss in women, nowadays. With advancement in age, female pattern baldness gets much more prevalence.Every strand of our hair is placed in a small hole or cavity in the skin that is called a follicle. Generally, baldness occurs when the hair follicle shrinks, resulting in smaller and finer hair. The follicle does not grow new hair. However, the follicle remains alive which gives a possibility to grow new hair.

The causes for female pattern baldness include aging, changes in level of and rogens that is male hormones. Examples of this are, when a woman reaches the stage of menopause, they find that the hair on their head is thinner and the hair on their face is coarser. Family history of male or female pattern baldness would be a contributing factor to gain the same condition. Women affected with female pattern baldness experience psychological stress and impaired social functioning. In most cases the diagnosis is made at clinics, and the condition is treated medically.

Symptoms of the female pattern baldness or hair loss include hair thinning, which occurs mainly on the top and crown of the scalp. It usually starts with a wide center hair partition. The front hairline remains the same, except for normal recession that everyone suffers from.

Itching or skin sores on the scalp are generally not seen. This condition is diagnosed based on ruling out the other possible causes of hair loss, appearance and pattern of hair loss, and the medical history of the patient. The doctor would also examine for other signs of the male hormone, androgen. The signs are abnormal new hair growth, such as on the face, or between belly button and pubic area. Changes in menstrual cycle, and new acne would be a sign for female pattern baldness too. A skin tester other procedures or simple blood tests may be used to diagnose skin disorders that cause hair loss.

Hair loss, with regard to female pattern baldness is permanent, if not treated. In most cases, hair loss is mild to moderate. Hair transplantation is one of the main treatments for severe hair loss. During the hair transplantation, tiny hair is removed from areas where the hair is much thicker, and placed on the areas that are receding or balding. Minor scars may be present where the hair is removed.

The hair transplantation method might also be a bit expensive.However, the results are supposed to be excellent and permanent. Regardless of the medication used to treat this condition, the response is a bit slow, and requires a lot of patience from both the patient and the medical practitioner. The cosmetic effects of this condition should not be underestimated, as the cosmetic aids and surgical options are both important to treat this condition.
